Spha Mdlalose
Project Support
Spha Mdlalose is a singer and songwriter based in Johannesburg, South Africa. A graduate of the University of Cape Town’s College of Music, Mdlalose has been steadily making her mark in the music industry collaborating with a number of prominent South African artists through the years. With a voice that both haunts and heals, it is no wonder that when Mdlalose finally released her debut album "Indlel'eyekhaya" in 2019, it was received with excitement from those who had been following her career trajectory. In 2020 “Indlel’eyekhaya” received 3 SAMA (South African Music Awards) nominations, including Best Jazz Album and Newcomer of the Year.
Besides her musical endeavours, Spha has a keen interest for the academy and is due to graduate with her MBA from Henley Business School this year. In June she joined Wits University as a research assistant for the NRF project.
